A Pump Designed for Greywater
The pump is different in 3 ways:
1.There is no single float to turn it on and off. There are two magnetic micro floats that activate the control box that senses the water level. This allows for the full capacity of the tank to be used, it allows for a full flow of water to be distributed thus filling your drip tube and importantly reaching the end of your drip tube line. It also means that the pump isn’t cycling (switching on and off) unnecessarily and that the full surface area of the filters are exposed to the incoming greywater.
2.The control box switches the pump on independently of the magnetic floats. This makes sure the minimum residual is remaining in the tank.
3.There are no external timers in the Aqua2use. Other units may have to rely on external timers to make sure any residual is pumped out within 24 hours. The Aqua2use control box automatically turns on the pump to see if there is any residual water.
Aqua2use UG GWDD pump performance and specifications
Aqua2use Greywater Filtration
Step 1:When the Aqua2use UG GWDD valve is open, greywater flows directly to the mains sewage.
Step 2:When the Aqua2use UG GWDD valve is closed, greywater from the house is diverted to the inlet of the filter.
Step 3:The greywater flows through the 1st filter web that retains major and medium particles such as hair, lint, paper, detergent clogs and other impurities. (The filter web: Matala Black – low density, Matala Green – medium density)
Step 4:The greywater flows through the 2nd filter web that retains medium and small particles. (The filter web: Matala Green – medium density, Matala Blue – high density)
Step 5:The greywater flows through the 3rd filter web that retains small and minor particles. (The filter web: Matala Blue – high density. Matala Gray – super high density)
Step 6:Filtered greywater is pumped to the irrigation.
What is a Aqua2use® GWDD?
The Aqua2use GWDD is the most advanced Grey Water Diversion Device available.
It is designed to help you reuse your waste water from your laundry, bath and shower.
How does it work?
It simply diverts grey water from your waste pipe and then filters the water as it passes through the Matala Patented 3-Dimensional Progressive Filter mats.
Then the level detecting pump pumps the water into your irrigation system.
This all happens automatically.
What can I connect my unit to?
The Aqua2use® GWDD is designed to connect to the discharge pipe from the laundry, shower and bath.
What do I need before I connect my unit?
You will need a power (110 voltage or 240 voltage) outlet.
And you need to be able to access your waste plumbing pipes (50mm or 2”.)
Why can’t I connect my sink in the kitchen?
It is not advisable to try to reuse sink water. This water may contain many nutrients, food particles, oil and harsh detergents all are not suitable for reuse. Sink water is considered to be Black Water and should go to waste.
Is the Aqua2use® GWDD an Approved Grey Water Device.
Yes it has the Australian Water Mark for a Pumped system and a Gravity system.
And is approved by EPA in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Northern Territory, Western Australia, South Australia, and ACT.
For other countries, please contact us for information.
Why is the Aqua2use® GWDD different to other Grey Water Diversion Devices?
The Aqua2use® GWDD is a designed to be the most efficient and advanced Grey Water Diversion Device available on the market. It is solely aimed at the professional licensed installer, to make it easy and simple to disperse the waste water through a sub surface drip system. This is so we can make full use of the waste water from the shower, laundry and bath.
The concept was to build a compact economical unit that met the full requirements of State and Government water authorities.
- Thanks to the Matala depth filtration, the unit is extremely efficient in progressive filtration and it can hold 10kg of solids without clogging the filter.(less frequent clean.)
- And secondly by filtering the waste water to make it suitable for drip irrigation application.
- There are no external timers in the Aqua2use® GWDD. Other units have to rely on external timers to make sure any residual is pumped out within 24 hours. The Aqua2use® GWDD has a timer function integrated in the electronic pump control.
- Designed to have the lowest residual water level possible.
How often do I have to replace or clean the filters?
The filters are designed to be cleaned over and over so you don’t need to replace them.
Testing in the field has show that up to 60,000 litres (15,850 galloen) can pass through the unit before they need cleaning. Recommended cleaning cycle depending on how many people are using the system is every 4-6 months. Dispose of waste thoughtfully and wear protective gloves when cleaning.
What is the guarantee?
All parts and the pump are covered by a 12 month replacement warranty.
You will have to return your warranty claim at the place of purchase.
How efficient are the filters?
The Aqua2use® GWDD has over 10m2 of surface ensuring the best filtration available for recycled Grey Water.
Standard type of filtration such as mesh filters are prone to blocking by the nature of what is in Grey Water. Lint is especially good at blocking single dimensional screen filters.
Independent laboratory tests have shown that the Aqua2use® GWDD can remove up to 90% of suspended solids.
Why don’t you use a low voltage pump?
Low voltage pumps have a limited service life and generally won’t do the hours required expected in this type of installation.
Who can service the pump?
The pump can be serviced by the plumber that installed your unit.
Who do I get to install this unit?
All Aqua2use® GWDD authorized dealers, to find out more information check our distributors listed on the web www.aqua2use.com purchase Or call your local licensed plumber.
What rebates are available for this?
Rebates differ from state to state countries to countries. Please check our distributors or dealers nearby you.
What is the best way to disperse the Grey Water?
One of the best and easiest ways is to use a grey water drip tube.
This will be lilac in colour and have special inbuilt drippers that can handle grey water.
We recommend the lilac drip tube (25mm) followed by Bioline 17mm drippline from Netafim.
Each garden has different requirements. Your installer should advise you on this.
How much drip tube do I need?
The recommendation is 100 metres (328 feet) per person in the house.
100 metres (328 feet) equals 40 litres (10 gallons) per minute.
Do I have to use a pump in this system?
If you have enough fall on your site this unit will work without a pump.
The Aqua2use® GWDD is registered as a gravity greywater device.
Generally speaking you will need a minimum of 2 metres (6.6 feet) in height to effectively operate the G Drip tube. So designing the system correctly to operate on gravity is critical.
Can I store the water once it has been through the Aqua2use® GWDD?
It is not advisable to store grey water from any Grey Water Diversion device for more than 24 hours.
How much water does my unit save me?
Independent tests have shown you can expect to save approx 113 litres (30 gallons) per person per day.
How big is the surge tank of the Aqua2use GWDD?
The total capacity of the tank is 80 litres (21 gallons).
Does this unit break down in the sun?
No it is made of UV resistant High Grade Poly Ethylene. |
Can the unit handle hot water?
Yes the pump and filters can handle water at elevated temperatures.
Boiling water should not be discharged in to any Grey Water Diversion Device.
Can the unit overflow?
No the unit has an inbuilt overflow so if you accidentally leave the power switched off to your unit it will simply send the water to waste. This is a requirement of the Watermark and all water authorities.
Can I buy spares for my unit?
Spare filters are available from your distributor as are all other parts in the unit.
Can I bury this unit?
You are able to partially bury the unit. The maximum depth is 400mm (15.7 inch).
It you need to bury the unit more than this we recommend that you install the unit inside a suitable pit. Remember that you will need to access the lid for removal and cleaning of the filters. Or you may choose the Aqua2use® GWDD UG which is designed especially for underground installation.
